OUR JOURNEY BEGAN IN 1985
In 1985, our founder Ifthikar Hussain Mubarak began his career as an accountant at Crest Gems Pvt Ltd, a gem and jewellery company in Colombo 3. Though the company focused mainly on tourism jewellery and imports, his role in finance led him to a life-changing realisation.
He observed that people were not simply buying jewellery for its beauty or material worth — they were buying it to express love to someone precious. Jewellery symbolised value beyond gold and gemstones; it became a timeless expression of care, affection, and trust.
This moment sparked a lifelong passion for gold and fine craftsmanship. For him, jewellery was no longer just trade — it was a symbol of love, value, and a lifeline in times of need.
OUR HERITAGE - A LIFELINE IN GOLD
1985Began working as an accountant at Crest Gems Pvt Ltd, a gem & jewellery company in Colombo 3. Here, he discovered his passion for gold and realised that jewellery was not just trade — it was a symbol of love and value.
1992Realised that while the industry catered largely to tourists, local buyers were not receiving fine craftsmanship for the value they paid. He also saw that in Sri Lanka, gold was more than adornment — it was an investment, a lifeline, and a lasting treasure.
1994Opened his first wholesale jewellery shop in Pettah, Colombo — the heart of the jewellery trade. From here, he supplied jewellery to renowned jewellery houses, wholesalers, and retailers, ensuring that fine craftsmanship reached every Sri Lankan at the right value and fair price.
2011Recognised that many jewellery shops were failing to provide authenticity, using jewellery as a tool for high profits. This strengthened his vision to build a business founded on fair value, trust, and authenticity.
2014Established Raththran Holdings Pvt Ltd, with a mission: everyone should be able to buy jewellery with fine craftsmanship, and every rupee spent should be an investment. From the very beginning, Raththran carried its guiding words: “Because You Are Precious.”
2015Introduced a community-focused gold valuation & buying service — a lifeline of fairness and transparency — helping families in need receive the right value for their jewellery with complete trust.
